This layer shows the outline of buildings.A building footprint is the outline of the exterior walls or foundation of a building. If exterior walls or foundation are not ascertainable (e.g. from vertical aerial photography), the building footprint is usually considered to be the area under the extended projection of the roof (eaves). Non-photogrammetrically-edited building features (many) are by necessity drawn as roof eave outlines.This polygon feature dataset is in ESRI GIS format in Kansas North State Plane NAD83 coordinates, units feet. The dataset covers all of Wyandotte County, Kansas, but there are areas of older and/or missing data. The data provided in this layer are mostly extracted from the BUILDING layer in over 600 quarter section AutoCAD DWG's. FME software is used to facilitate the data extraction and conversion from CAD to GIS. Some features were digitized manually.Attribution includes name (i.e. of facility) and street address (only if known and recorded-- this is not a situs address layer). Also included are fields for building height and number of building stories (these fields are not in use yet). Additionally, a FEATURECODE field contains domain code values for Facility Type codes used by Esri's Local Government Information Model schema. These codes represent broad categories of types of building uses, (e.g. Industry, Commercial and Retail, Public Attractions and Landmarks). These values are intended primarily for use on the web in basemaps used by Community Maps program in ArcGIS Online.Every building feature should have a FEATURECODE. These codes were assigned on the basis of personal knowledge of the processor, or through verification through taxroll ownerships and/or aerial photo interpretation techniques. Caution should be used in using this information because it has not been field-verified.

USPLSS is a legal land reference system created to facilitate the description of and transfer of property. This system is divided into townships, ranges, and sections ( a further subdivision of sections creates quarter-sections-- a quarter-section of land is 1/4th of a USPLSS section). A quarter-section is also one-quarter square mile, or 160 acres, in area. This layer is a representation of the quarter-section grid in the County but it was not developed to survey standards, and should not be used for surveying or land conveyance purposes-- except as an overview guide which only approximates quarter-sections and their boundaries and section corners (no location accuracy +/- claims are made). Attribution includes standard 1/4 section aliquot part position within a section (NE, NW, SE, SW), section number, township and range designations, plus an internal base map numbering system (1-666) that uses quarter-sections as a tiling scheme. Also included are so-called State-ID (Kansas Uniform Parcel Number) assignments for county, township, \"quad\", and others developed by Kansas Property Valuation Division, Cartography Section, to facilitate real property identification uniformly across the state. Cemetery grounds of Wyandotte County, KS as a polygon feature GIS dataset in ESRI shapefile format in KS N State Plane coordinates using NAD83 datum, in units feet. Cemetery grounds as used in this dataset are the maintained or identifiable land use extent of a cemetery or burial ground. Grounds polygons were largely delineated by aerial photo interpretation in conjunction with ownership parcels. Grounds polygons are not ownership polygons, although the two may coincide in some cases. All cemetery types are represented here, including private, public-maintained, religious, and historic (generally old cemeteries that are abandoned or have not had interments for a long time). Attribution accompanying features includes name, address, type, acres, and comments.
