Abstract:

Wyandotte County, Kansas County Limits Boundary. Simple boundary (polygon) layer with no other political subdivisions. Developed from source material at 1:1200 scale and distributed in GIS data format. Represents present-day county boundary.

Purpose:

Supports the Unified Government's Enterprise GIS (E-GIS) system as a political jurisdiction layer dataset. E-GIS users and applications rely on this spatial layer for cartographic representation of county boundaries.

This dataset does not meet land survey accuracy standards.

Boundary lines conform well with actual county limits location as determined by visual inspection of other reference maps and GIS layers.
However, boundaries have not been confirmed to level of horizontal accuracy of a complete land survey based on monumentation and geodetic controls, or by a comprehensive legal description-based metes and bounds traverse.
 County boundaries along rivers are based on interpretation of  center of river channels using aerial photography ca. 2001-2006.
This dataset's boundaries have not been compared to adjoining counties county limits datasets to determine degree of compatible edge matching.

Tax map property boundary lines were redrawn based on surveys and legal descriptions, then scanned, and adjustments to existing county limits dataset were made manually with heads-up digitizing, using said scanned maps and other GIS digital layers as references.
Specifically, research was done on correct placement of the Delaware Reserve Line, which is county line between Wyandotte and Leavenworth on the north, by using surveys, property legal descriptions, and planimetric features from the mylar parcel maps.
Research was performed on alignment of the county line on the west by several surveys.  Some adjustments were made on the south county line by using planimetric features from scanned base maps and parcel boundaries.
Original legacy county limits layer data set was created in ArcInfo in 1980's using unknown source information.

County boundaries were adjusted based on revised section and quarter-section layer datasets, reflecting remedial corrections in alignment of said section/quarter-section lines that coincide with county line per legal description. 

This was a correction and not a new revision based on legal boundary changes.
