Abstract:
GIS polygon feature layer depicts historic landmarks in Wyandotte County, KS. Landmarks are officially designated at the city, state, and/or national level. A Landmark is a building, site, structure, or object that has this historic recognition status. This dataset shows overall Landmark site grounds or property boundary, but no structure outlines if it is a building.
There may be historical site overlaps with other historical datasets in this series. For example, Huron Indian Cemetary and Scottish Rite Temple are individual Landmarks that are included collectively with Huron Place Historic District in a separate historic_dist_py dataset. Additionally, a separate review has brought to light discrepancies, e.g. there are some designated landmarks missing from this dataset and some landmarks that have been demolished are represented here.
There is a companion dataset named historic_landmrk_env_py, a GIS layer of 500 foot environs zone (buffer zone) around State-approved historic landmarks that establishes preservation-related control by State statute over properties within or touched by the 500 foot buffers.
Furnished in ESRI shapefile format in Kansas North State Plane coordinates, NAD83, units US feet. |
Metadata elements shown with blue text are defined in the Federal Geographic Data Committee's (FGDC) Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM). Elements shown with green text are defined in the ESRI Profile of the CSDGM. Elements shown with a green asterisk (*) will be automatically updated by ArcCatalog. ArcCatalog adds hints indicating which FGDC elements are mandatory; these are shown with gray text.
