Abstract:
An orthoimage is remotely sensed
image data in which displacement of features in the image caused by terrain
relief and sensor orientation has been mathematically removed. Orthoimagery combines the image characteristics of a
photograph with the geometric qualities of a map. For this dataset, six inch
pixel resolution natural color digital orthoimages
were produced for Wyandotte County, Kansas. Tile orthoimages
were mosaicked and reprojected
to State Plane Coordinate System, Kansas North, NAD83
datum to produce 24-Bit RGB 0.5 foot pixel resolution digital orthoimages in Geo TIFF format. The entire County is
presented in 652 overlapping, tiled images, based on the PLSS Quarter-Section
Index. Digital Orthophotographs are orthorectified aerial photographs. In this data set all of
Wyandotte County Kansas was flown at an altitude of 5400 AGL and orthorectified with a resolution of 0.5 feet.

The dataset was put through
numerous quality control checks by Pinnacle Geospatial Solutions to assure
consistency and accuracy. All imagery is visually inspected for completeness to
ensure that no gaps, or image misplacement exist in the edge matched image
sheets. The ortho images may be derived by mosaicking multiple images, in order to ensure complete
coverage. Photo coverage for the 100 scale orthophotos
consists of 32 flight lines with a total of 3735 +/- exposures flown at an
altitude of 5400 feet. Overlap between each exposure is 60% with a 30% sidelap between flight lines. Photography is natural color
RGB. TIFF image sheets are edge matched. Completeness_Report: Yes. 652 tiles delivered.
